On Mother's Day last year, I had great intentions of making sure my mother recieved her Mother's Day card a day or so before the actual day. Well, I missed it... by that much!
Usually I'm right on time with a card or gift so that she is able to enjoy her recognition from me on that special day. For some strange reason however, I got preoccupied with the weeks activities and I didn't get around to purchasing a Mother's Day card and sending it off until the Saturday before Mother's Day.
With our current postal service and the distance between our states, it was not plausible to think that she would recieve her card in time to open it on that Sunday. It was going to be late.
As her son, I felt terrible.
As the day arrived, we proceeded, as is our family tradition, to give my mother a telephone call on Mother's Day. My wife and I gathered our kids around us and had them say a few words of celebration to their "Grammy Gibson."
The telephone got passed around to the children and then back to me to finish the call. I immediately began to apologize to my mother for the late Mother's Day card that was soon to come.
Her response to me was awesome!
She said, "Don't worry son, I'll enjoy the card whenever I get it. In fact, the day that I'll receive the card will be my Mother's Day-Extended! Another day to celebrate!"
I was both relieved and excited at her response.
This experience helped form the idea for the Celebration Extension Cards.
